Phillip Daniel “Ike” Isenhower Class of 1955 Passed Away
Phillip “Ike” Isenhower, 80, of Tecumseh, OK passed away Monday, October 15, 2018 in Shawnee.
He was born May 19, 1938 in Tecumseh, Oklahoma to Cecil Carl and Mary Etta (Pringle) Isenhower.
Ike was raised on Little River in the Pink Community. He was a graduate of Macomb High School.
After graduation he married Joy Ann Brown and they moved to Pearson, OK and began their family where they lived for 40 years. He later moved to Shawnee and lived for 22 years until recently moving to Tecumseh.
He began working at Tinker Air Force Base two weeks following his high school graduation and retired as a Computer Engineer after 37 years of service.
Ike had a passion for bluegrass music and loved to karaoke and sing bluegrass. He loved jug fishing with his grandson Derrick, and enjoyed being around people. He was a little ornery and enjoyed teasing and joking around. After moving to town and having lived on a farm most of his life and use to hard work, he found it hard to just mow his lawn, so he would keep mowing until all his neighbors yards were mowed as well.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Mary Etta Isenhower; and grandson, Sgt. Bret D. Isenhower.
Survivors include his wife, Joy (Brown) Isenhower of Tecumseh, OK; 1 son, Bret Kevin Isenhower of Oklahoma City, OK; 1 granddaughter, Krysten Isenhower; 1 sister and brother-in-law, Jan and Mike Johnson of Pink, OK; nephew, Derek and Crystal Johnson; niece, Lindsey Johnson; special cousins, Royce and Joyce Simon; special friend, Sherry Hackett of Tecumseh, OK; her children, Joy and Dennis Mitchell of Purcell, OK, Shelly Dixson of Tecumseh, OK, Jennifer Davis of Tecumseh, OK and Jackie Anderson of Shawnee, OK; 5 grandchildren, Bridgette Hall, B.J. and Lacie Anderson, Stephanie and Bobby Hutchcraft, Derrick Dixson, Whitlee Davis and Maizee Anderson; 2 great-grandchildren, Steelie Anderson and Jackson Anderson; and numerous extended family and friends.
Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday, October 19, 2018 and continue through service time, with the family gathering to greet friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Cooper Funeral Home. Service will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 20, 2018 at Cooper Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Marty Shirey, Full Circle Church in Shawnee officiating. Services will conclude at the funeral home.
